On the 2nd of December 2016, the DLS had the great pleasure of hosting a conference by the Hon. Lawrence Cannon, Canadian Ambassador to France and former Minister of Foreign Affairs and, previously still, of Transport.
Welcomed by a nourished audience, which included the Canadian community of our campus, Honorable Cannon offered an insightful reflection on the Canadian role on the international scene. A mature player in international relations, Canada has engaged, since World War I, in an active foreign affair policy.
From the Canadian stand with regard to the Syrian conflict, to the Arctic Council and the Franco-Canadian relations, Hon. Cannon provided a good insight into the Canadian role in today’s world. The lecture was then followed by a particularly engaging Q&A time, where students engaged in interesting debates with Hon. Cannon.
